The Joe Morolong Road Project
SIOC-CDT, in partnership with the Department of Roads and Public Works in the Northern Cape, funded the Joe Morolong road project. The project was focused on the upgrading of gravel to tarred roads within the Joe Morolong local municipality in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. This intervention assisted with resolving a community service delivery protest that had an impact on the education programmes in the area.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the project were to enhance job creation through infrastructure investment and the development and strengthening of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), targeting previously disadvantaged individuals and assuring skills development for local people. The project further delivered an essential infrastructural development to the area.
