On Saturday, 17 August 2019, 08h30-16h00, SIOC-cdt in partnership with Hope Missionaries and the John Taolo Gaetsewe district Department of Education, Northern Cape supported by South32 and Sishen Mines will host the Joe Morolong Municipality Career Exhibition 2019 at Segopotso High School in Laxey Village.

Thus, you are kindly invited to join us along with your media team for participation and coverage of the day’s proceedings and activities.

The exhibition aims to bring career information to Grade 12 learners from 13 High Schools from Joe Morolong, their families and school-leavers. The focus will be on career guidance and education-related initiatives as well as various career opportunities. Learners will be exposed to a variety of professions that will assist them in making informed decisions regarding various career options, further study and financial aids available. In Addition to this, the long-term goals for the exhibition is to increase the average percentage of employability and marketability of local youth post matric and tertiary.

This event will be graced amongst other dignitaries by the presence of the MEC for Education in the Northern Cape, Sol Plaatjie University Vice Chancellor, North West University Vice Chancellor, Joe Morolong local municipality mayor, CEO of SIOC-cdt, motivational speakers and many other professionals.

Over and abovementioned dignitaries different institutions of higher learning and individual professionals from a variety of fields will share valuable information with learners including their career path experiences through coaching sessions. This exhibition will be one of its kind as it will be very interactive, affording opportunity to learners to discuss and ask questions with real people who have travelled the path they may wish to undertake. This will be extremely beneficial particularly to disadvantaged learners who do not always have access to information based on their location, background, accessibility and limited resources.

The Joe Morolong Municipality Career Exhibition 2019 is a first step to helping our youth become true leaders of tomorrow and have meaningful careers.
